A bold move.
Although the approach angle doesn't look too great

I’m not a purist or Supra fan by any means, but why would you do that to a car that there’s already so few examples of? The article states they started with a perfectly working car.

So...there’s a right way and a wrong way to approach that vision. He picked the wrong way.

I’m not Mad Max, just disappointed

Yep. It’s one thing to start with one that can’t reasonably be fixed up correctly . That’s fine. These guys hacked up a perfectly good example of a rare car. That’s a big no-no in my book.

So few examples of? There were 11,000+ sold in the US, and I’d imagine a decent number of those survive. That’s not a ton, but it’s certainly not “That belongs in a museum!” territory.

This was a Twin Turbo one, which only sold like 6.5k units over it s run. For reference, around that time the C4 Corvette sold ao ut that many in four months and we don't consider those particularly common.

I consider the C4 extremely common. Nothing remotely rare about it.
I’m not at all bothered by doing something like this to a mass-produced car with tons of examples remaining. It’s not playing darts with a Rembrandt. And I’m sure it wasn’t in concours condition to start with.

Assuming every TT Supra were still on the road, there were only about 130 in each state (yes I understand the distribution wouldn't be even like that) The actual current number is likely less than 100. I guess we have differing definitions of “common”
